Job Description
Provides direct patient care using the nursing process, adhering to scope and standards of practice.
Performs interventions including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
Documents patient care accurately.
Monitors and communicates patient conditions to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
Assists with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and mobility.
Collaborates across disciplines for coordinated care, transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial support.
Educates patients and families tailored to their age, culture, and condition.
Advocates for patients' physical and emotional well-being.
Performs additional duties as assigned, including duties of CNA, MA, or LPN when necessary.
Participates in staff meetings, in-services, projects, and committees.
Follows hospital policies and procedures.
Works scheduled shifts, including overtime and call schedules.
Maintains professional appearance per dress code.
Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is possible; reports to the Director of Med Surg.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: Associate's degree required.
Required Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently, stress management.
Certifications: AHA BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
Licenses: Valid RN license in Tennessee or a Compact State with proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.
