Job summary

Dignity Health’s St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton, CA is seeking a Medical/Surgical 2 South Nurse to deliver comprehensive nursing care and lead patient-centered initiatives. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care plans across age groups, while upholding our mission and improving care quality.

The role emphasizes clinical assessment, critical thinking, leadership, and effective communication to advocate for patients and families in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an RN School of Nursing required.
• Active RN license in California required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart Association required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; one year acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient/family health needs, lead development and evaluation of nursing care plans.
• Provide technical nursing care to diverse age groups from neonatal to geriatric.
• Uphold the organization’s mission and quality improvement plans.

As our Medical/Surgical 2 South Nurse, you will be a compassionate and pivotal healthcare professional, delivering comprehensive nursing care and leading patient-centered care initiatives.

Every day, you will expertly assess patient/family health needs, leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans, and providing technical nursing care to diverse age populations (neonatal to geriatric) with developmental understanding. You'll actively uphold our Organization's Mission, Core Values, and support strategic and Performance Improvement plans.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, leadership, and communication skills, with an unwavering commitment to patient advocacy and continuous quality improvement.

• Assures that the rights of the patient/family are respected and maintained.
• Allows for privacy and modesty in the provision of care.
• Identifies self by name and title to patient/family.
• Determines presence/type of Advanced Directive.
• Reports suspected cases of abuse/neglect, if identified.
• Understands role of, and how to access, the Bioethics Committee.
