Job summary

Baton Rouge General is seeking a self-motivated registered nurse to join our Telemetry Unit, delivering continuous cardiac and medical monitoring in a fast-paced environment.

You will monitor rhythms, respond to alarms, develop care plans, administer treatments, and collaborate with physicians to ensure quality outcomes; stroke care training provided.

Qualifications

• RN with graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Telemetry/med-surgical experience preferred.
• Complete Basic EKG Course within 6 months of hire.
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
• Willingness to specialize in stroke care; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs using telemetry.
• Respond promptly to alarms and emergencies.
• Assess patients, develop care plans, and coordinate interdisciplinary care.
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures per evidence-based practices.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge care.
• Maintain documentation of patient status, interventions, and outcomes.
• Participate in stroke-specific protocols as part of a TJC-certified Stroke Unit.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and care teams to ensure quality outcomes.

Deliver exceptional care to patients requiring continuous cardiac and medical monitoring in our dynamic Med Telemetry Unit.

• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs using telemetry equipment
• Respond promptly to changes and alarms, recognizing medical emergencies and arrhythmias
• Conduct thorough assessments, develop individualized care plans, and coordinate interdisciplinary care
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in line with evidence-based practices
• Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient status, interventions, and outcomes
• Participate in stroke-specific care protocols as part of a TJC-certified Stroke Unit
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and care teams to ensure quality outcomes
