Job summary

Baton Rouge General Medical Center is seeking a self-motivated RN for our fast-paced telemetry-focused Med Telemetry Unit in Baton Rouge. The role requires a Louisiana RN license and offers training for TJC Primary Stroke Certification.

You will monitor cardiac rhythms, respond to alarms, educate patients and families, and collaborate with care teams to ensure optimal outcomes in a clinically dynamic setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Louisiana RN license required.
• Completion of Basic EKG Course within 6 months of hire.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and telemetry monitoring skills.
• Desire to specialize in stroke care; training provided for TJC Primary Stroke Certification.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional care to patients requiring continuous cardiac and medical monitoring in our Med Telemetry Unit.
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs using telemetry equipment.
• Respond promptly to changes and alarms, recognizing medical emergencies and arrhythmias.
• Conduct thorough assessments, develop individualized care plans, and coordinate interdisciplinary care.
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in line with evidence-based practices.
• Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient status, interventions, and outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and care teams to ensure quality outcomes.
