Job summary

MercyOne Central Iowa is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team on the weekend night shift. You will provide direct patient care, assess needs, and coordinate with physicians to implement care plans.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program with Iowa RN license required; hospital experience preferred. You will work with a diverse care team, document accurately, and contribute to compassionate, patient-centered care. This role requires rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Graduate nursing degree from an accredited program.
  • Current Iowa RN license required.
  • Hospital nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers nursing care to patients, including assessment, planning and evaluating the care plan with the physician.
  • Provides patient/family education and counseling on health problems.
  • Supervises care team members with patients.
  • Uses computer applications to enter, retrieve and analyze patient information.
  • Maintains documentation requirements for patient records.
  • Works independently under the Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.
  • Operates equipment such as IV pumps and monitoring devices with alarms to maximize patient safety.
  • Rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

Employment Type: Full time Shift: Weekend Shift Description: Full Time, 36 hours per week, Weekend Package Friday/Saturday/Sunday Night shift

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


  • Administers nursing care to patients; includes assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating the patient’s care plan in coordination with the physician.

  • Provides patient/family or caregiver education and counseling in recognition and solution of physical, emotional and environmental health problems.

  • Supervises health care members (i.e., patient care technicians, etc.) with patients.

  • Utilizes computer applications and communication technologies appropriate to the work setting to enter, retrieve and analyze information and to facilitate communication and education.

  • Maintains knowledge of documentation requirements needed for patients’ record.

  • Works independently with limited direct supervision using the Nurse Practice Act, Mercy Medical Center polices, nursing standards and professional judgement.

  • Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices). Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms whenever available to maximize patient safety.

  • Works rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.


EDUCATION

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.


EXPERIENCE

Nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred.


LICENSURE

Current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Iowa required.
