Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Temple, TX is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse to join our Medical Surgical Telemetry Unit (STC-5). The role is nights, 36 hours per week, in a major Level 1 trauma teaching hospital setting with 636 beds and a strong nursing advancement culture.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program.
• Specialized field of study should be nursing.
• RN license required.
• Must have BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of starting.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on the Medical Surgical Telemetry Unit (STC-5).
• Monitor and respond to patient respiratory status and vital signs.
• Administer medications and manage wound and skin care as needed.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and outcomes.
• Adhere to infection control and airborne, contact and/or droplet precaution protocols.

Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital is a 636-bed specialty care teaching hospital and the only Level 1 Trauma Center between Dallas and Austin.

Schedule:

Full Time – Nights - 36 hours per week

Unit Summary

• Wide variety of Medical Diagnosis, most patients we see come from the ICU, especially the MICU
• Patients requiring medication regimens
• Patients with impaired respiratory status
• Patients requiring airborne, contact and/or droplet precautions
• Patients requiring nutritional support
• Patients requiring wound and skin care
• Diagnostic procedures including thoracentesis, lumbar punctures, central line placement, paracentesis, angio-cath insertion, pacemaker and collection of specimens
• Patients requiring N/G suction
• Patients requiring cardiac monitoring
• Patients with GI abnormalities
• Severe Sepsis
• Bi-Pap machines (external vent)
• CHF
• Multi-Organ Failure points.
