Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a full-time night shift in the Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool. The RN will float across inpatient Medical-Surgical Telemetry units, Emergency Department, ICU, or PACU as overflow demand requires, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Requirements include a California RN license, 12 months of clinical nursing experience (preferably Med/Surg/Telemetry or Critical Care), and BLS/ACLS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Sciences degree preferred; ADN or Nursing Diploma/equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills expected.
• Dysrhythmia course certificate preferred.
• EMR experience preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required/desired.

Responsibilities

• Float between units to care for Medical-Surgical Telemetry patients.
• Provide high-quality, patient- and family-centered care over 12-hour shifts.
• Work within Watson Model of Care and coordinate with hospital departments as needed.

Job Description

The Clinical Staff Nurse is a skilled and experienced professional Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for excellence in the clinical practice of nursing and the management of patient care. Reporting to the Manager Central Staffing, the RN will float as needed throughout the hospital to provide care for Medical-Surgical Telemetry patients. The settings would include inpatient Medical-Surgical Telemetry units as well the Emergency Department, the Intensive Care Unit or the Post Anethesia Care Unit when overflow Medical-Surgical Telemetry are being boarded there. The Clinical Staff Nurse has 12 hour accountability for organizing, planning, directing, coordinating, and providing high quality, individualized patient/family centered care based on the Watson Model of Care for a defined group of patients, including the identification and demonstration of abilities to meet special needs and considerations of Age and Population Specific awareness.

Qualifications

• Education
• Bachelor of Sciences degree preferred.
• Associate in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or equivalent required.
• Qualifications/Experience
• Minimum of 12 months of clinical nursing experience.
• Minimum of 12 months of Med/Surg/Telemetry or Critical Care nursing experience preferred with regard to regulatory guidelines and standard of practice and/or at the discretion of the Manager/ Director
• Current California Nursing license
• Basic EKG Competence
• Certification in Progressive Critical Care Nursing preferred.
• Certification in Medical / Surgical Nursing preferred.
• Special Skills/Knowledge
• Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish)
• Basic computer skills
• Dysrrythmia Course certificate preferred.
• Electronic Medical Record experience preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
