Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a hospital setting required.
  • Registered Nurse license required in Maryland or Compact state.
  • Basic Life Support certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred.

Responsibilities

Registered Nurse

Med Surg - Cardiac - Intermediate Care - 72 hrs. Biweekly - 630pm - 7am

About Our Unit:

  • 4 South is a 27 bed Observation, Medical, Cardiac, Telemetry unit that has been designated for Med-surg/Tele, IMC overflow. Our team consists of Registered Nursing staff who have advanced cardiac life support, are stroke certified, and trauma certified. As a team, we work closely with our certified nursing assistants who help us provide dedicated and committed care.
  • Registered Nurse skills includes medication administration, cardiac monitoring, intravenous therapy, oxygen therapy, blood transfusions, wound care, titration of drips.
  • 1:5 Nurse to Patient Ratio

Job Description:

In clinical settings, the registered professional nurse cares for patients using the nursing process, independent judgment, and evidenced based practice to assess and treat responses to actual or potential health problems. Maintains clinical competency and participates in continuing education related to health care issues and as outlined by appropriate regulatory and accrediting agencies. Adheres to ethical principles of practice as defined by the Nurse Practice Act and the ANA code of ethics for nurses. Demonstrates ongoing competency in practice through participation in professional organizations and committees. Coordinates care with other disciplines; delegates tasks to other nursing staff; supervises staff in their delivery of care and evaluation of results. Reports breaches in clinical or ethical standards to supervisor.

Minimum Qualficiations:

Education - ASN required. BSN Preferred. Previously grandfathered active RN’s who graduated from an accredited nursing school as a Diploma RN will continue to have ASN requirement waived.

Experience - Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital setting required.

Licensure/Certification - Specialty certification recognized by the Magnet Recognition Program preferred. Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse License from that state that is designated as "Compact" or "Multi-State Privilege" using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. RN License from a compact state with a designation of "Single State" does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license. Specialty certification preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Ability to apply the standards of professional nursing practice with compassion and empathy. Basic computer skills required. Must possess high level of organization and communication skills.
