Job Summary

Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team in the delivery of patient care, utilizing the nursing process. Provides professional nursing care to patients, including conducting assessments, assisting with exams and treatments, patient education, and maintaining medical records. MHHS recruits RNs based on experience levels: newly licensed (under supervision), less than 1 year, 1-3 years, 3-10 years, and over 10 years.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing
• Certified in Basic Life Support
• Additional certifications may be required based on discipline and/or nursing unit requirements

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

• RN I < 1 year
• RN II = 1-3 years
• RN III = 3-10 years
• RN IV = 10+ years

Principal Accountabilities

• Delivers safe and appropriate care to patients, according to the nursing skills inventory and the age and needs of the patient/population served.
• Coordinates planning for nursing care with an interdisciplinary team and makes appropriate clinical decisions.
• Collaborates with, directs, and delegates to the healthcare team to achieve positive outcomes based on data, research, and professional standards. Develops and implements discharge and transfer plans.
• Participates in ongoing evaluation of programs, process improvements, and client-centered outcomes.
• Considers the diverse needs of each patient throughout the continuum of care, providing high-quality service to optimize the patient experience.
• Adheres to all regulatory standards and the Texas Board of Nursing standards.
• Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; complies with all policies, procedures, and standards within budget, including time and supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
• Supports professional growth through mandatory and continuing education; may serve as preceptor, mentor, or resource to less experienced staff.
• Demonstrates commitment to compassionate, personalized care, modeling Memorial Hermann’s service standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
