Job summary

Mercy in Oklahoma City seeks a Registered Nurse to provide patient care using the nursing process aligned with the Mercy Nursing Professional Practice Model. You will coordinate patient care with other departments, uphold patient rights, and protect confidentiality while adhering to established nursing guidelines.

The position requires graduation from an approved RN program, current RN licensure in the applicable state, and a BLS certification, with at least 3 years of RN experience.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure with State Board of Nursing in the applicable state of practice or current temporary work permit.
• 3 years RN experience.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care using the nursing process and Mercy Nursing Professional Practice Model.
• Coordinate patient care with other departments while maintaining patient rights and confidentiality.
• Operate within established nursing guidelines to meet Mercy Health System goals.
• Maintain readiness to work varying schedules and shifts per patient care needs.

Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Coordinates the patients care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patients rights and confidentiality of patient information. Functions within the scope of nursing preparation and consistent with the established guidelines of nursing practice, the goals of Mercy Health System, the Philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy, the Missouri Nurse Practice Act, the Code of Professional and Business Ethics, and the Co-Worker Code of Conduct. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position Details:

• Education: Graduate of a state approved professional nurse program.
• Licensure: Current RN licensure with State Board of Nursing in the applicable state of practice or current temporary work permit in the applicable state of practice.
• Experience: 3 years RN experience
• Certification/Registration: BLS
• Other Skills: Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Stand and walk most of the time on duty. Meet unit specific physical demands. Significant amount of bending and stooping, as well as lifting and turning patients with assistance. May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, days of the week, or work frequency according to patient care requirements. High risk exposure to blood and body fluids. Physical demands are attached plus push, pull, and grip up to 40 lbs., pinch up to 10 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally.

It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
