Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Medical Surgical Unit in Springfield, Missouri. This foundational nursing role involves managing a variety of patient diagnoses, including chronic and acute conditions, and providing essential post-operative care. We offer an extensive range of experiences through managing complex diagnoses and patient needs, providing many learning opportunities. Our environment offers a strong foundation in nursing and clinical skills. The unit primarily serves the medical-surgical population, managing both chronic and acute diseases. Patients often require multi-system management, including infectious diseases, wound care, pneumonia, sepsis, COPD, diabetes, gastrointestinal conditions, and post-surgical recovery. We also coordinate care for patients requiring surgical interventions, EGD, colonoscopy, outpatient infusion/chemo, and anticoagulation therapies.
The Med-Surg unit at Mercy Springfield is a foundational nursing unit that manages patients with a wide range of diagnoses and care needs. It cares for patients preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions, including illnesses like pneumonia and sepsis, as well as pre- and post-operative management of pain, wound care, and complication monitoring. The unit also manages chronic conditions such as diabetes, COPD, and chronic kidney disease. Service lines include oncology, nephrology, urology, gastroenterology, and more. Due to the varied patient conditions, patient acuity levels vary.
