Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) on Med Surg 5W in St. Louis. The role welcomes new grads and experienced nurses, with a full-time, night-shift schedule of 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

A sign-on bonus is offered: up to $10,000 for experienced nurses and up to $5,000 for new grads. The Med Surg 5W unit cares for adults with conditions such as obstructions, infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia, offering a strong environment to sharpen core Med Surg skills and patient assessment

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: Associate Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma or BSN.
• Must hold and maintain a current RN license in Missouri or possess compact licensure in accordance with state board rules.
• Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.
• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.
• BSN is preferred; additional state licensure or specialty certifications are a plus.
• Ability to perform nursing duties including lifting up to 50 lbs and prolonged standing.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care.
• Maintains professional accountability for patient care delivered to assigned patients.
• Evaluates care effectiveness provided by direct care givers.
• Coordinates patient care with other departments and maintains patient rights and confidentiality.
