Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Med Surg 5E. You will apply the nursing process to provide patient care and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for adult medical patients.

The role requires Missouri RN licensure or compact licensure, BLS certification, and hospital experience. Night shift schedule 7:00 PM–7:30 AM; 36 hours per week. Sign-on bonuses: up to $10,000 for experienced nurses and up to $5,000 for new graduates.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: ADN, Diploma, or BSN.
• Must hold and maintain a current RN license in Missouri or possess compact licensure.
• Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Schedule:Full-Time | 36 hours/week

Shift:Night Shift | 7:00PM-7:30AM

About the Unit

Med Surg 5E provides care for a wide variety of adult medical patients.

Typical diagnoses include

• Small bowel obstructions

• Respiratory infections

• Cellulitis

• Diverticulitis

• Pneumonia

This unit offers strong opportunities to develop and strengthen core clinical skills including patient assessment, time management, and complex care coordination. Nurses on 5E gain experience with medical patients who require frequent monitoring, thoughtful care planning, and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Qualifications

Education:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing

• Nursing Diploma

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure:Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience:Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications

• Required:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education:BSN preferred

• Licensure:Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred

• Experience:Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly

• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift

• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
