Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO, seeks a Registered Nurse for Med Surg 5E. This full-time role offers 36 hours per week, day shifts 7:00am–7:00pm, and attractive sign-on bonuses for new grads and experienced RNs. We welcome applicants from all levels of experience.

The nurse will apply the nursing process, coordinate with care teams, and uphold patient rights while aligning with Mercy values and standards of care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with RN licensure in MO or compact license.
• BLS certification required or to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• New graduates welcome; hospital experience preferred depending on unit.

Schedule: Full-Time | 36 hours/week

Shift: Days | 7:00am - 7:00pm

About the Unit — Med Surg 5E

Med Surg 5E cares for adult medical patients with diagnoses such as small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia. This unit provides an excellent environment to strengthen core Med Surg skills, enhance assessment abilities, and manage patients with diverse medical needs.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications:

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: BSN preferred
• Licensure: Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
• Experience: Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
