Job summary

MaineGuide is seeking an RN-Med Surg to deliver attentive nursing care in a medical-surgical setting in Maine. You will assess patient needs, administer medications, monitor changes, and coordinate care with the clinical team to support safe transitions from hospital to home or another setting.

Pay ranges from $60.00 to $72.00 per hour with a 36-hour work week. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and RN licensure are required; benefits include 401(k) and 401(k) matching.

Job Summary

As an RN-Med Surg, you’ll deliver attentive nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical setting. You’ll assess patient needs, administer medications and treatments, monitor changes, and coordinate care with the clinical team. Your work supports safe, informed care throughout each patient’s stay.

Your impact: Timely assessment and clear communication help patients receive appropriate care and support a safe transition from hospital to home or another care setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients, monitor vital signs, recognize changes in condition, and document findings in electronic health records (EHRs).
• Administer medications, support intravenous (IV) infusion and insertion, provide catheter and ostomy care, and follow infection-control and aseptic techniques.
• Coordinate diagnostic evaluation, specimen collection, pain management, and care planning with the interdisciplinary team.
• Educate patients and families, support discharge planning, and maintain privacy in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
• Respond to urgent changes using appropriate emergency procedures and escalat e concerns promptly.

Skills

• Required: Registered nurse licensure appropriate to the work location, nursing knowledge, patient assessment, medication administration, medical-surgical or acute care experience, and clear medical documentation.
• Preferred: Hospital or inpatient experience; telemetry, critical care, emergency medicine, dialysis, long-term care, hospice, geriatrics, or home care experience.
• Familiarity with Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or other electronic medical record (EMR) and EHR systems is helpful.
• Additional relevant skills may include triage, IV infusion, phlebotomy, venipuncture, tube feeding, catheterization, airway management, and basic life support (BLS).
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, infection control, and applicable coding or documentation standards is valued.

Pay: $60.00 - $72.00 per hour
