Job summary

Job Summary / Purpose

The Registered Nurse (RN), within their scope of practice, is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a designated group of healthcare consumers. Provides services encompassing spiritual, physiological, social, and psychological aspects of care, disease prevention, or health conservation. Contributes to the mission and core values of CHI Health.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities
  • Follow the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate. This is an ongoing process that can end at any stage.
  • Assessment: Collect and analyze healthcare consumer data, including psychological, physiological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
  • Plan: Set measurable, achievable short- and long-term goals based on standards of care, in collaboration with the healthcare consumer and multidisciplinary team.
  • Implement: Carry out and modify the care plan using assessment data, clinical reasoning, standards of care, and evidence-based practice. Includes care coordination, education, and discharge planning. The nurse is accountable for direct, indirect, or delegated care, following professional and legal standards.
  • Evaluate: Continuously assess progress toward healthcare goals, revising the care plan as needed with the healthcare consumer and team.
  • Document all phases of the nursing process in the patient's record.
  • Maintain personal and professional development, foster a safe work environment, and support collaborative nursing practice.
Qualifications
Education
  • Graduate of an RN nursing program.
Licensure and Certifications
  • Active RN license in Nebraska, Iowa, or nurse licensure compact.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire from American Heart Association.
  • ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • PALS certification required within 6 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current nursing practices, critical thinking, communication, technical skills, attention to detail, customer service, adaptability, and confidentiality.

Pay Range

$36.00 - $52.20 per hour
