Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM seeks a Director of Risk who will lead the risk management program, train leaders and staff, and ensure compliance across the facility.

As part of Lifepoint Health, you will oversee professional liability, general liability, and property claims, while serving as an ethics and compliance officer. RN license and nursing leadership experience are required.

Qualifications

• Current state RN license and bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• At least 5 years' experience in nursing with a minimum of 3 years as a Director/Manager.
• CPHRM certification preferred upon hire and required within three years of employment.

Responsibilities

Department/Unit Summary

The Director of Risk plays a key role in coordinating multiple facets of the overall risk management process. They manage risk identification, avoidance, and mitigation by collaborating with all levels of leadership, provider, front end staff and other stakeholders to implement sustainable corrective actions. They manage the evolving needs of potential and active litigation cases to include investigations, interviews, depositions, gathering of legal hold records and other needs as determined by legal counsel. They are responsible for training leaders, providers and various hospital staff on the risk management program and reporting of incidents. Responsible for the overall risk management program of the hospital and affiliated clinics. Provide consultation regarding informed consent, documentation standards, disclosure practices, professional liability exposure, and oversee the facility's insurance policies for professional liability, general liability, and property claims management activities. They also serve as the Compliance and Ethics Officer for the facility.

Qualifications and requirements

Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

• BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• Prior acute healthcare risk management experience is preferred and can substitute for the leadership experience.
• Must have at least 5 years' experience in Nursing with at least 3 years as a Director/Manager.
• Experience working in a for‑profit hospital strongly preferred. Previous Director level experience preferred.
• Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) certification preferred upon hire and required within three years of employment.
