RN - Manager - Quality and Clinical Data Nurse
Position Description:
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
Work Location: OBGYN Division, Women and Infants Center

The Quality & Clinical Data Manager works under the direction of the Department Value Officer (DVO) and as a member of the UAB Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology Executive Quality Team, which includes the Medical Directors for Inpatient Gynecology, Inpatient Obstetrics and Ambulatory Care. The Quality & Clinical Data Manager works collaboratively with Department Quality team members to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving the care provided to the women served by the Department. The Quality & Clinical Data Manager works closely with the Department Value Officer and the Medical Directors to develop and implement quality improvement assessment processes to meet obstetric, gynecologic, and resident goals. This includes:
• Working with clinical information technology and health information management to develop and implement databases for the collection, measurement, and reporting of identified outcomes
• Assisting the Department Value Officer and Medical Directors in the communication of information about quality programs to department faculty and staff
• Participating in various UAB Health Systems Healthcare Quality improvement and Patient Safety initiatives and meetings.
• Participating in the Alabama Perinatal Quality Committee (ALPQC) assisting with database development, data collection and outcomes reporting for UAB Obstetrics.
Position Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
•Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of professional nursing.
AND
• Master’s Degree in Nursing, Health and/or Business administration or Quality. Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years’ experience with database management and experience in quality improvement initiatives may substitute for master’s degree.
Preferred:
• Master’s Degree in Healthcare Quality and Safety or completion of Quality Certificate such as Certificate in Healthcare Quality and Safety, Lean or Six Sigma
•OBGYN clinical experience
Previous quality improvement and project management skills. Understanding of Quality Improvement methodologies and performance analytics such as Six Sigma, Lean as well as familiarity with Vizient, Patient Safety Indicators, would be preferred.
LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR REGISTRATION:
Required:
• Licensed RN in state of Alabama.
AND
• Completion of the Healthcare Quality and Safety Certification program or completion of certificate program within one (1) year of employment.
