Job summary

Virginia Mason Medical Center, Seattle, WA, is seeking a Manager of Clinical Services Periop to lead a multidisciplinary perioperative team and drive best-practice care. This role develops policies, manages staffing, and mentors staff to elevate patient outcomes.

You will analyze operations data, monitor KPIs, and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other departments to ensure efficient, safe patient care across the perioperative spectrum.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, and four (4) years related work that would demonstrate attainment of requisite job knowledge/abilities, including two (2) years in a charge nurse/leadership position (or equivalent)
• Knowledge of perioperative nursing principles, standards, techniques, protocols and tools/equipment
• Knowledge of FHS policies and regulatory/accreditation requirements
• Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems and standards of care
• Knowledge of clinical competencies and care standards
• Knowledge of Medical Necessity criteria and healthcare coding conventions
• Knowledge of supervision, development and performance management
• Knowledge of EMR systems and daily operations
• Ability to analyze data and implement improvements
• Strong communication skills
• Understanding of regulatory/compliance matters
• Ability to lead and develop teams

Responsibilities

Job Requirements

Required

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, and four (4) years related work that would demonstrate attainment of requisite job knowledge/abilities, including two (2) years in a charge nurse/leadership position (or equivalent)
• Knowledge of the principles, practices, standards, techniques, protocols and tools/equipment of the nursing profession in general, and of the perioperative clinical nursing specialization
• Knowledge of FHS policies and standards, and legal regulatory/accreditation requirements applicable to matters within designated scope of responsibility
• Knowledge of the principles, practices and methodologies pertaining to healthcare delivery systems and standards of care
• Knowledge of clinical competencies and clinical care standards/practices
• Knowledge of Medical Necessity criteria and published healthcare coding conventions applicable to health information management
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of employee supervision, development and performance management
• Knowledge of the functionality, application and use of electronic medical record and related systems sufficient to manage assigned daily operations
• Ability to understand financial and/or operational reports, analyze data, identify improvement opportunities and implement effective responses
• Ability to identify compliance deficiencies and/or systemic weaknesses and implement timely corrective action to forestall or remedy
• Ability to keep abreast of current and changing laws and regulatory standards and their impact on operations and services/activities
