Principal Accountabilities:
- Directs department operations on a continuous basis.
- Manages teams of MSW, RN Case Managers, and ancillary staff.
- Updates senior management and staff on operational and functional improvement opportunities.
- Ensures budget monitoring processes are in place and action plans are established to address variances. Acts as the hospital AHS system advocate to patients, families, staff, and the community.
- Ensures quality standards of professional practice are maintained, ensuring safe and effective patient care and transitions of care. Applies process improvement principles within the department.
- Monitors updates and ensures compliance with CMS COP, OSHA, state/federal regulations, and Joint Commission standards.
- Continuously seeks opportunities to improve quality and safety through core processes.
- Promotes and maintains effective collaboration with physicians and intra-departmental relationships to enhance communication, service, and performance.
- Ensures adherence to organizational mission, vision, values, strategic goals, and business strategies. Responsible for fiscal and material management of the department, fostering an environment that promotes competency.
In this role, the leader will ensure optimal patient input, work to reduce length of stay, and optimize inpatient service utilization.
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Active RN Licensure in New Jersey
- MSN or actively pursuing a master's degree (MSN); Case Management Certification required
Relevant Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of hospital acute care management experience, with current managerial responsibilities preferred
- Knowledge and implementation experience within an acute care hospital setting
- Knowledge of conditions of participation and transitions of care
- Knowledge of payer and managed care systems
- Experience with budget and fiscal management, resource management, and care coordination
