Job Summary

As an LVAD Coordinator RN, you'll be a certified part of our healthcare team, coordinating patient care. You will manage evaluations, admissions, and discharges for LVAD patients. Using the nursing process, you'll assess conditions, create care plans, evaluate responses, and track outcomes.

Essential Functions of the Role
  1. Prioritize patient and family needs before implementing care plans.
  2. Evaluate nursing practices regularly and advocate for changes based on research evidence when needed.
  3. Manage patient discomfort, alleviate suffering, promote healing, and prevent pain, providing both emotional and physical care.
  4. Protect patients' confidentiality, dignity, and rights.
  5. Provide education to patients, families, and the community to improve care.
  6. Collaborate with others to create and follow care plans, promoting teamwork and shared goals.
  7. Use problem-solving skills and resource management to ensure efficient care, demonstrating systems thinking.
Key Success Factors
  • Deep knowledge and skill in nursing, especially for long-term mechanical heart support devices.
  • Managing patient care with ventricular assist devices.
  • Educating staff and caregivers on device use.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Location and Schedule

Location: The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano, Plano, Texas

Department: Heart Failure Center - LVAD

Shift: Full-time days, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with on-call after 4:00 p.m. M-F; 24 hours on Saturday and Sunday, every four weeks, one week at a time.

Qualifications
  • Associate's degree.
  • Minimum of two years in a relevant field.
  • RN License.
  • BLS certification or must obtain within 30 days of hire.
