About the Job

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care to patients. Supervising care, treatment, and services provided by LPNs, CNAs, and other staff on the assigned unit and shift. Developing, implementing, and evaluating individual care plans for each client. Conducting assessments and re-assessments of patients. Communicating relevant information with the interdisciplinary team. Reporting client concerns and changes in condition to supervisors and/or physicians in a timely manner.

Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Provide and coordinate care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, maintaining medical records, and educating clients and families about health conditions while ensuring safety.
  2. Assess client status continuously and document pertinent information.
  3. Ensure nursing treatment plans are tailored to assessed needs and completed upon admission.
  4. Accurately take and document physician’s orders, transcribe and review them, ensuring legibility and proper procedures.
  5. Administer medications accurately, monitor lab results, and adjust medications under supervision as needed.
  6. Notify physicians of significant changes in patient status.
  7. Supervise medication self-administration, ensuring safety protocols.
  8. Maintain accountability for medication control and security.
  9. Complete admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately.
  10. Participate in team discussions and activities related to patient care.
  11. Educate clients and families about medication use, side effects, and rights.
  12. Monitor client acuity, census, and staffing needs, arranging coverage as necessary.
  13. Ensure thorough documentation and proper completion of client sheets.
  14. Provide comprehensive reports to incoming staff and supervisors.
  15. Offer coverage in emergency situations as needed.
Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing school.
  • One or more years of clinical nursing experience preferred.
  • Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, or addiction recovery environments preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid RN license from the state or a compact state.
  • Psychiatric Nursing certification preferred.
