Job Summary: The Nurse Manager RN is responsible for promoting and restoring patients’ health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area; directing and developing staff; collaborating with providers and multidisciplinary professional staffs; providing physical and psychological support for patients, friends and families. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the staff, patients, families, and visitors of all age groups, while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate flexibility in job duties
• Must be available to work extended hours as needed
• Address nursing staff needs and shortages appropriately
• Initiate, coordinate and enforce organizational, operational, and personnel policies and procedures
• Assist with orienting and training nursing staff
• Willingly provide support for the nursing staff
• Effectively communicate with patients and families
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment
• Complete employee evaluations in a timely manner
• Ensure operation of medical equipment, reports malfunctions, and calls in repairs as needed
• Maintain clinic medical supplies, by anticipating needs, by ordering and maintaining availability of medical supplies

• Effectively evaluates employees by completing 6 month and annual evaluations prior to the deadline
• Counsels employees on areas of improvement by completing trainings and PCN’s in a timely manner

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• RN with current license in the State of Mississippi
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American heart Association
• Must demonstrate knowledge and skills in the administration of their duties
• Knowledge of basic clinical operations such as supervising nursing staff, overseeing clinical reporting, and ordering medical supplies
• Must listen objectively and provide constructive criticism
• Must demonstrate positive personal attributes such as professionalism, honesty, and integrity
• Must demonstrate ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision

Physical and Other Requirements

• Must continuously listen, visualize and have dexterity and eye-hand coordination
• Ability for simple grasping and speed work
• Must frequently sit, squat, reach, use both right and left forearm rotation, walk and climb stairs
• Must occasionally kneel, twist, have ability to grasp firmly, lift and carry, push and pull in excess of 10 lbs.
