Job description

Luther Park Community is seeking an RN/LPN for Trinity Center at Luther Park, a 120-bed skilled nursing facility specializing in Alzheimer’s care. If you are a skilled, compassionate nurse dedicated to providing the best quality of care, we want to talk to you!

We have a full-time opening on our 6a-2:30p shift, which includes working every other weekend.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Charge Nurse will be responsible for planning, organizing, and carrying out nursing care for residents. Responsibilities include orienting, instructing, and supervising staff such as CNAs and CMAs. The Charge Nurse must comply with established policies and procedures and perform professional nursing duties within the scope of licensure.

  1. Keeps DON/ADON informed of resident status and other pertinent matters.
  2. Admits and orients new residents, involving their families in the process. Checks physician’s orders, transfer forms, and pre-admission information. Reviews residents’ medical and social histories. Completes admission and documentation forms. Ensures residents’ supplies and medications are ordered and equipment is functioning properly.
  3. Maintains proper documentation of facility records, such as narcotic records, medical chart forms, and weekly skin assessments. Monitors daily, weekly, or monthly weights and vital signs, and informs physicians, DON/ADON, and On Call Manager of any changes.

Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing for RN/LPN
  • Current nursing license in good standing in the state of Iowa
  • Current CPR certification (preferred)
  • One year of experience in a geriatric setting (preferred)
  • Knowledge of current changes in nursing practice
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
