Responsibilities

Salary and Shift

Salary: $111,030.40

Shift: Monday–Friday 8am–5pm and 24/7 on‑call

Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables
  • Meet and maintain all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to this position.
  • Develop medical clinic staffing schedules and assignments and provide solutions to resolve staffing gaps.
  • Provide medical staff with necessary training to ensure competence in assigned positions and compliance with all quarterly, bi-annual, and annual program training requirements, and convey best practices on medical issues and emergency response preparedness.
  • Validate the completion of all nursing duties relevant to this position in compliance with all regulatory authorities, and program protocols including, but not limited to, active and ongoing nursing assessments, charting, scheduling of appointments, routine observations, isolation observations, wellness checks, immunizations, and regular reports.
  • Supervise, direct, and oversee site medical staff to execute medical services reflected in healthcare plans and treatment orders.
  • Communicate with pharmacies on ordering prescription medications, check medication deliveries for accuracy and compliance with doctor’s orders, and remediate any discrepancies.
  • Effectively communicate, consult, and interact with the Deputy Executive Director for Medical Services and Executive Director on policy and procedure issues affecting the quality of health care services on campus.
  • Maintain adequate over-the-counter medication supplies for each service population facility and arrange proper disposal of unused and expired medications.
  • Maintain documentation of controlled drugs, including up-to-date reconciliation of all scheduled drugs used in the facility through facility’s protocols and procedures.
  • Provide required facility documentation and reporting to meet Compass Connections, federal and state guidelines within the required timeframes.
  • Oversee the development of the medication administration record (MAR) for each child and audit MARs.
  • Arrange transport of children to health‑care appointments including doctor, dentist, therapy, counseling, lab, and other required visits.
  • Participate in the development of health and medical related protocols and procedures for federal programs.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings, team decisions, and operations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of health‑care records and information in keeping with HIPAA, PHI requirements and Compass Connections confidentiality protocol and procedures.
  • Know, understand, and apply positive behavior management techniques including verbal redirection, de‑escalation, and containment.
  • Know and recognize the signs of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and sexually provocative behavior and implement professional response, reporting, and documenting procedures.
  • Show appreciation and affection toward children in a manner that is compassionate and professional, minimizing cultural misinterpretations.
  • Adhere to scheduled hours, remain available for on‑call scheduling, and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, requested, or deemed appropriate by deputy executives.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize daily work using sound judgment.
  • Implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
  • Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the BC Compass Connections FS employee handbook, including demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, and community members and complying with the required dress code at all times.
Other Responsibilities
  • Perform and supervise medical staff to perform nursing duties at designated site(s), ensuring all required duties meet or exceed nursing guidelines and best practices established by the Texas Board of Nursing for Registered Nurses.
  • At designated site(s) supervise, direct, and train medical staff and coordinate services following state, federal, and Compass Connections Medical Services Division established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Implement and monitor established health‑care plans for service population at the site(s) as prescribed by an advanced practice provider or physician, applying best practice nursing guidelines.
  • Complete accurate documentation for designated site(s) in accordance with agency policies and procedures, contract and regulatory requirements and standards, and program timeline requirements.
  • Review, write, and update medical protocols and procedures in collaboration with Medical Services and Compass Connections Professional Management Team.
  • Meet all pre‑determined deadlines required by program and federal partners.
Requirements
  • Pass a pre‑employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
  • Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
  • Pass a pre‑employment and biennial criminal background checks.
  • Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio‑economic characteristics.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English.
  • Work in a fast‑paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times, making decisions based on the needs of the program and service population.
  • Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
  • Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.
  • Must complete and sign Operations Policy and Procedure review and certification.
  • Must provide current physical‑medical release and provide proof of immunizations, titers, or declinations for the following:
    • MMR
    • Varicella
    • HepB
    • HepA
    • Tetanus
    • PPD
    • Meningococcal (preferred)
  • Must be able to perform physical activity such as extensive walking, lifting of patients, stretching, and bending.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to maintain professional people skills, including oral, written, listening, and non‑verbal communication skills.
