Job summary

Eastside Medical Center in Suwanee, GA is seeking a staff nurse to provide care on a 13-bed obstetric unit serving laboring and postpartum patients. The unit operates with 24/7 Hospitalist coverage and adheres to AWHONN standards, maintaining staffing ratios of 1:2 laboring, 1:1 active labor or C-section, 1:3 antepartum, and 1:4 triage/OB-ED.

The staff nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients across the birth lifecycle, ensuring professional growth and accountability

Qualifications

• RN - Registered Nurse licensure in Georgia and current GA license or multi-state license.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to birth through lifecycle using nursing processes to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care.
• Maintain standards of practice and coordinate patient care activities with the health care team.

Job description

We are a 13-bed unit with 4 overflow antepartum rooms, 2 OR suites and a new 4 bed OB-ED. We have 24/7 coverage by a Hospitalist, along with a great group of physicians. Any laboring mom or preterm mom greater than 20 weeks may be seen on this unit; along with postpartum moms needing to be readmitted. Our goal is to adhere to the AWHONN standards. We closely monitor staffing to patient census which means-1:2 laboring patients, 1:1 active labor or C-section, 1:3 antepartum patients and 1:4 triage/OB-ED. We provide patient centered care as the entire health care team work together to care for mother and baby.

Responsibilities:

The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

Qualifications:

Education

• Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing Required
• Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required New Graduates of a nursing program eligible Required
• Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
• 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNCL Multistate License. Required and
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
• Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
