Job summary

LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia, is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Labor and Delivery Unit. The role provides direct nursing care in alignment with hospital policies and supports the clinical team to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.

The RN will coordinate unit activities, educate patients and families, administer medications, monitor vitals, and document patient conditions. Discharge planning completes the care cycle with the team.

Qualifications

• BLS certification is required.
• ACLS certification must be obtained within 12 months of start date.
• Neonatal Resuscitation must be obtained within 12 months of start date.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia through the Board of Health Professions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate unit activities and ensure accountability for all tasks.
• Instruct and educate patients and family members.
• Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, and monitor vital signs.
• Monitor and document patient conditions using computerized systems.
• Serve as primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Coordinate discharge planning with healthcare team.
