Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles is seeking a Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum Clinical Registered Nurse for a part-time night shift. You will apply nursing science to support mothers and newborns during labor and postpartum care.

The role requires 1 year of LDRP experience, a BSN or progress toward one, and active California licensure with BLS, ACLS, and NRP preferred. Bilingual Spanish is a plus and ongoing professional development is encouraged.

Qualifications

• BSN required; individuals hired without a BSN must complete a degree program within 5 years of hire
• Minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience in Labor and Delivery and Postpartum nursing
• Current California Nursing license; certification in related nursing specialty preferred
• Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS); ACLS; NRP certifications preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum patients per the nursing process
• Collaborate with the Clinical Unit Supervisor in Perinatal Services to deliver patient care
• Maintain patient safety and family education, ensure regulatory compliance and documentation

Job Description

The Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) Clinical Registered Nurse is able to consistently transfer scientific knowledge from social, biological and physical sciences in applying the nursing process and is responsible for helping people cope with difficulties in daily living that are associated with their actual or potential health or illness problems or the treatment thereof, and that require a substantial amount of scientific knowledge or technical skill.
Reporting to the Clinical Unit Supervisor (CUS) of Perinatal Services, the LDRP Clinical Registered Nurse has 12 hour accountability for the delivery of patient care to a defined group of patients according to the age, population, and social needs of the patient and family.

Qualifications

• Education
• Bachelor of Sciences degree in nursing (individuals hired without a BSN will be required to complete a degree program within 5 years of their hire date)
• Qualifications/Experience
• Minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience in Labor and Delivery and Postpartum nursing with regard to regulatory guidelines and standard of practice; Nursery and/or NICU experience preferred.
• Current California Nursing license Certification in related nursing specialty preferred.
