Job summary

HCA Florida Palms West Hospital is seeking an RN for Labor and Delivery PRN to provide direct patient care in a busy unit with 8 labor beds, 2 ORs, and obstetric services. The RN will support mothers before, during, and after labor, following established policies and procedures.

Required FL RN license (or compact licensure), BLS/ACLS, NRP and AWHONN certifications, and the potential for 1 year L&D experience.

Qualifications

• Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred.
• Current BLS & ACLS certifications.
• NRP & AWHONN certifications with 30 day grace period.

Responsibilities

• Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs.
• Carries out physician orders.
• Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, and monitors vital signs using electronic documentation systems.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Labor & Delivery RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. The Labor & Delivery Unit has 8 Labor beds, 2 OR’s, 3 Obed (obstetrics emergency department) and 3 Antepartum beds. There is a midwife on unit, occasionally. The L&D RN will treat expecting mothers providing support before, during and after labor.

In this position, you will:

• Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs

• Carries out physician orders

• Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems

What qualifications you will need:

• Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Florida, or

• Recognized compact licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provision)

• Graduate from a professional accredited school of nursing preferred

• Current BLS & ACLS Certifications (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)

• NRP & AWHONN Certifications (30 Day Grace Period)

• 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred
