Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for Labor & Delivery at Grapevine. This PRN night role supports a fast-paced unit with 13 beds and 2 ORs, providing high-acuity obstetric care and learning opportunities under a Magnet-recognized system.

Minimum 1–2 years of L&D experience, NRP/EFM/BLS/ACLS certifications, and a strong commitment to patient safety and teamwork are required. The facility offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

  • RN license required.
  • 1 year of experience in high-volume deliveries facility (150+ births) or 2 years in lower-volume facility.
  • NRP, EFM, BLS, ACLS certifications required.

Labor & Delivery --- PRN Nights

Our Labor & Delivery unit is a fast-paced environment that includes high acuity patients. Are you looking to increase your knowledge base? Our Labor & Delivery leadership team fosters an environment that supports learning, mentoring, and building every team member.

Number of Beds: 13 beds, 2 ORs

Department Specifics

2,400 Deliveries per year. OB Hospitalist & Anesthesia 24/7, 3-time Magnet Recognized Facility, Outstanding Quality Metrics, Strong ICU/ED collaboration, Perinatal Internship, Community Partnerships, OB Emergency Response Team, Participant, and contributor to Texas AIM.

Shift: PRN nights; 7pm-7am

2 call shifts every 6 weeks; must live within 1 hour

Experience required: 1 year if from higher volume in deliveries facility (150+); 2 years if a lower volume facility; NRP, EFM, BLS, ACLS

Preferred: 2 years of L&D, laboring, circulating and triaging

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse on Unit is a key player in patient care management, following our nursing practice model. They work with other health care staff to deliver patient care effectively. Our Registered Nurses use the nursing process efficiently. They diagnose patient responses to health issues and create care plans accordingly. It includes evaluating healthcare needs and responses.

Essential Functions Of The Role

  • Create a caring, safe environment for patients, families, and staff.

  • Facilitate learning for all members of the healthcare team, including patients, families, and nursing staff, ensuring everyone is well-informed.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and the community to develop and execute an integrated plan of care.
  • Use problem‑solving strategies and utilize available resources to support patients, family and staff as part of a systems thinking approach.
Key Success Factors
  • Familiarity with nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
  • Awareness of legal requirements and standards of certification and accreditation bodies, including the specifics of the hospital and respective department/unit.
  • Good command of medical terminology, with a focus on healthcare promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention.
  • Effective communication skills, along with social aptitude for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
  • Possessing critical thinking and problem‑solving skills is crucial.
  • Capability to identify and report changes in patient conditions, develop, and modify patient care plans as required.
  • Basic computer skills necessary for day‑to‑day assignments.

Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited course or have at least 2 years of experience surpassing the minimal qualification required.
  • Field of Study: The applicable major should be nursing.
