This position has the authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for delivering nursing care through the nursing process. The incumbent accepts accountability, applies competent clinical knowledge and skills, and uses independent nursing judgment to achieve quality patient outcomes. Duties are performed within the scope of a Registered Nurse (RN) - Level I & II, as defined in the job description.

The incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide relevant care to patients, applying principles of growth and development across the lifespan. The ability to assess and interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs is essential. This role provides professional nursing care in an inpatient hospital setting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

  • ADN, Diploma, BSN, or higher degree
  • Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Registered Professional Nurses or appropriate state board, or multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
  • Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two (2) years of nursing experience

  11. Develop, implement, review, and adhere to safety-promoting policies.

  13. Demonstrate leadership within the community and healthcare settings.
  14. Engage in holistic, culturally sensitive data collection with patients and teams.
  15. Incorporate knowledge of global and environmental factors into assessments.
  16. Identify resources/actions for cultural situations and recognize personal biases.
  17. Share educational findings with colleagues.
  18. Pursue higher education/training for lifelong learning.
  19. Identify resources for ethical dilemmas and promote ethical nursing practice.
  20. Demonstrate competencies such as being a charge nurse or preceptor.
Specialty Accreditation Requirements

Complete annual education related to specialty standards through various training methods.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Meet physical demands, including safe patient handling and stamina for lifting and moving patients. Visual and auditory acuity within normal range are required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work may involve irregular hours, biohazards, infectious diseases, working with or near the deceased, water, and electrical hazards.
