Job summary

ARMStaffing is seeking a Registered Nurse, Obstetrics for a 13-week contract in Salmon, Idaho. This night shift role covers labor, delivery, and postpartum care, with occasional assignment to the Med/Surg unit to maintain staffing levels.

You will provide compassionate care to mothers and newborns and closely monitor multiple patients. The ideal candidate holds an Idaho RN license (BSN preferred) with at least 1 year in obstetric nursing and experience in fetal monitoring, newborn assessment,

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing required; BSN preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of obstetric nursing experience.
• Experience in maternal/fetal assessment, newborn assessment, and postpartum care.

Responsibilities

• Provide obstetric patient care including labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
• Labor and delivery support including fetal monitoring and medications.
• Monitor maternal and fetal well-being and respond to complications.
• Educate families on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn health.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals.
• Administer medications and IV therapy as ordered.
• Document assessments and adjust care plans accordingly.

Job Description

The RN for our Obstetrics Unit provides compassionate and skilled care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. This role involves monitoring the health of both mother and baby, assisting in the birthing process, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for families. In the absence of active patients in the Obstetrics unit, the RN will be assigned to the Med/Surg unit to maintain appropriate staffing levels and continuity of care.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards.
• Provide comprehensive care to obstetric patients, including laboring mothers, postpartum recovery, and newborns.
• Assist with labor and delivery, including fetal monitoring, medication administration, and patient education.
• Monitor maternal and fetal well-being and recognize and respond to complications.
• Educate patients and families on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn health.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective care.
• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care for adult patients with medical and surgical conditions.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and wound care as per physician orders.
• Monitor patient progress, document assessments, and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes.
• Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families.

Required Experience

• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of previous experience in obstetric nursing required.
• Experience in maternal/fetal assessment, newborn assessment, and postpartum care.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Idaho or approved compact state licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required upon hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required upon hire or within one year of employment.
