Job Summary

Coordinates clinical activities of the Inpatient Wound Care Program, including organization, planning, implementation, evaluation, and providing care according to hospital and nursing standards.

Essential Functions
  • Performs assessment and plans patient care.
  • Evaluates the patient assessment, planning, and intervention process.
  • Demonstrates professional and personal development.
  • Delivers direct patient care appropriate to the age of the patient served.
  • Assesses and diagnoses wounds, ostomies, and continence disorders.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans.
  • Monitors and evaluates patient progress.
  • Provides patient education on self-care and disease management.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals for holistic care.
  • Stays updated with latest research and technology in wound, ostomy, and continence care.
  • Documents patient progress and treatment plans thoroughly.
  • Provides emotional support to patients and families.
  • Manages and maintains specialized equipment and supplies.
  • Advocates for patients with wounds, ostomy, and continence disorders.
  • Manages complex wounds, ostomies, and continence issues.
Qualifications
Job Requirements

Minimum Education: Graduate of a Program in Discipline - Required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Required Skills: Ability to work independently, address wound care consults timely, teach staff and patients, assess skin integrity, prevent skin breakdown, stage and assess wounds, proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within 6 months.

Required Licenses: Current licensure by WV State Board of Nursing.

Minimum Work Experience: 1-2 years related experience preferred; 2 years of experience in wound, ostomy, and continence care required.
