Job summary

Women's Vascular Summit seeks an RN for Interventional Radiology in Portland, OR. This part-time, union-represented role supports a fast-paced IR service with on-call expectations and a 07:00–17:30 routine window. The position offers comprehensive benefits and requires BLS completion during orientation.

Ideal candidate has 2+ years in critical care or IR/Cath lab, valid Oregon RN license, and proven communication and teamwork skills to coordinate care across a multidisciplinary team.

  • Minimum 2 years in Critical Care, ED, Interventional Radiology, or Cath Lab.
  • BSN or ADN with required timelines to BSN as applicable.
  • Current, unencumbered Oregon RN License.
  • BLS required; orientation during onboarding.

Department Overview

Patients in Interventional Radiology are cared for by a multidisciplinary team including Registered Nurses, Interventional Radiology Technologists, and Interventionalists. The department is open Monday through Friday from 07:00 to 17:30 for routine and emergent cases and an on-call team is available 24/7/365 for all cases after routine hours of operation.

Function/Duties of Position
Department Specific Working Conditions:
  • Ability to stand up to 6 hours without sitting
  • Ability to wear up to 20 lbs of leaded aprons for entire shift
  • Fast paced admit/recovery environment, with often competing priorities and quick turn-over of patients
  • Must have the ability to change work location based upon procedure volumes and staffing needs
  • Requires the ability to ride the Arial tram throughout the day
  • Requires the ability to tolerate moving throughout entire shift
  • Requires the flexibility to stay focused and have your assignment changed several times throughout your shift
  • Requires weekend and after hours call and ability to report to work within 30 min of being called not required for Resource RN

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 year Critical Care, ED, Interventional Radiology, or Cath Lab experience
  • BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
  • ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
  • Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
  • Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
  • BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with caring for patients undergoing procedures and associated complications
  • Knowledge/experience with radiation safety, fluoroscopy
  • Knowledge/experience related to IR procedures including GIB, stroke, and trauma
  • Experience as a Charge RN in a related setting
  • Experience as a member of a Shared Governance council or committee

Length of Orientation Experienced Nurse

  • External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week.
  • Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Specialty Fellowship/Fellowship Learning Pathway or Orientation experience for 3 days-26 weeks depending on the care area. An employment service agreement may apply.
