Job summary

Hickory Treatment Centers in Indiana seeks an Intake Specialist (RN) to perform comprehensive nursing and psychiatric intake assessments and coordinate admissions. You will evaluate medical and psychiatric needs and collaborate with the treatment team to determine admission appropriateness.

Under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, you will be a key contact for patients, families, referral sources, emergency departments, and community partners, ensuring safe and timely transitions into

Qualifications

Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice.
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred.
Current BLS certification.
Experience in psychiatric/behavioral health or acute care nursing preferred.
Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive nursing and psychiatric intake assessments for prospective admissions.
Obtain and document medical, psychiatric, psychosocial, medication, substance use, and safety information.
Assess patients for suicidal/homicidal ideation, self-harm, psychosis, and other acute concerns.
Identify immediate needs requiring emergency intervention or higher level of care.
Coordinate admissions, transfers, and referrals as appropriate.
