Job summary

Presbyterian Santa Fe Medical Center in Santa Fe, NM is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse for our inpatient team. You will collaborate with physicians, caregivers, patients, and families to deliver high-quality care while guiding clinical resources and delegating tasks to nursing staff.

Qualifications

  • Degree from accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum ADN preparation.
  • Current RN license in the State of New Mexico or a Compact State license.
  • Required certification from AHA, ASHI, or Red Cross.
  • BLS and ACL required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee delivery of patient care and delegate assignments to nursing staff.
  • Maintain clinical competence in direct patient care and adjust plans as needed.
  • Coordinate patient care with families, physicians, and other disciplines.
  • Ensure patients understand rights, informed consent, and directives.
  • Assess teaching needs and use teaching aids in the home setting.
  • Maintain knowledge of current nursing standards and hospital policies.
  • Communicate effectively with the nursing team and other disciplines.
  • Perform on-call duties with triage and visits as needed.
  • Direct educational needs for top ICD9 codes and common diagnoses.

Responsibilities:
  • Acts as clinical resource by overseeing the delivery of patient care, directs and delegates patient care assignments to home health aides and nursing staff based on acuteness of patient care needs and staff capability and anticipates future needs
  • Maintains clinically competent in providing direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care..
  • Coordinates patient care through collaboration with the patient, family, all other disciplines, primary and secondary physicians and community resources/programs.
  • Ensures that patients understand their rights and responsibilities, advanced directives and the meaning of informed consent during the admission process.
  • Assesses and directs patient and family teaching needs and is proficient in the use of return demonstration and teaching aids in the home setting.
  • Maintains professional responsibility for knowledge of current nursing research, practice standards, guidelines and protocols, and hospital policies, procedures, and programs to improve patient care quality.
  • Effectively communicates and assists other members of nursing team and/or other disciplines. Actively participates in problem solving and conflict resolution to maintain team cohesiveness.
  • Performs on-call duties effectively with the ability to triage patients over the phone and visit when needed.
  • Directs own educational needs for the top 10 ICD9 codes and/or diagnoses for diabetes, wounds/post-surgical, arthritis, newborns, Coumadin dependency, malnutrition/ nutrition needs, medication instruction, pain and symptom control/hospice care.
Qualifications:
  • Degree from accredited academic nursing program
  • Minimum ADN preparation
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Mexico or Compact State RN license required.
  • Required Certification from either AHA, ASHI, or Red Cross
  • BLS
  • ACL
