Cook Children’s in Fort Worth is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Infusion Center. This part-time role (24 hrs/wk) covers the first shift in a fast-paced environment serving hematology/oncology, nephrology, rheumatology and more.

The Infusion Center features 24 chairs, 10 private rooms, an AYA room, and an activity playroom. The RN will provide infusion care per nursing process, communicate with families, and collaborate with the care team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current license to practice nursing in Texas (RN).
• Current BLS certification (PALS optional).
• Infusion nursing skills including ports and IV starts.

Responsibilities

• Deliver competent infusion services per nursing process and plan of care.
• Provide patient-centered infusion care to diverse pediatric and adult patients.
• Access ports and start PIVs; apply time management and critical thinking.
• Communicate clearly with patients and families to ensure customer excellence.
• Infusion center features 24 chairs, 10 private rooms, and an AYA room; participate as a team member.

Infusion nursing care is based on the nursing process and augments the medical plan of care. The Registered Nurse will deliver team-oriented infusion services with a patient centered focus. The Registered Nurse will exhibit consistent sound clinical judgment and skills, stemming from evidenced base nursing practice. Strong clear communication related to customer excellence is also expected. The infusion center is located in the Dodson Outpatient Building, and our nursing staff serves a wide variety of patients. In infusion, you will see both acute and chronic patients from various specialties, including, but not limited to, hematology/oncology, nephrology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, and others. Nurse residents should expect a fast-paced environment and an opportunity to use a variety of skills, such as accessing ports, starting PIVs, practicing time management, and using critical thinking skills.
