This role is full time nights on our IMCU unit at Cobb Hospital.

Job Summary:

The RN Clinical Nurse – Critical Care is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team ensuring high-quality, safe patient care. They work in a clinical environment supported by Nurse Managers and the Wellstar Shared Governance Model, guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice. RN competencies align with these models and Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses – Critical Care must be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, the Scope of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics. They uphold patient voices, system policies, and service excellence.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  1. Exemplary Practice and Outcomes:
    • Perform nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice and critical thinking, ensuring individualized care.
    • Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care respecting cultural diversity.
    • Partner with patients and families using appropriate communication methods, focusing on patient goals.
    • Practice according to current clinical standards.
  2. Teamwork and Collaboration:
    • Coordinate safe, quality care and document appropriately, promoting a respectful, inclusive environment.
    • Demonstrate teamwork that is fiscally responsible and promotes staff recruitment and retention.
    • Support performance improvement, research, and shared governance activities.
  3. Professional Development and Initiative:
    • Complete professional competency assessments and mandatory education.
    • Serve as a preceptor or mentor to foster a qualified workforce and model professional practice.
  4. Evidence-Based Practice and Research:
    • Promote and participate in evidence-based practice, research, and quality improvement.
    • Ensure compliance with policies, standards, and safety goals.
    • Participate in data collection and clinical question formulation, consulting experts as needed.
  5. Resources and Support:
    • Plan patient care proactively across the continuum.
    • Contribute to protocol and procedure development to improve outcomes.
    • Support efficient use of resources.

Minimum Education:

  • Diploma or degree from an accredited nursing program (Bachelor's preferred).

Licenses and Certifications:

  • RN license (single state or multi-state compact).
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification (Instructor or Provisional preferred).

Experience:

  • Less than 1 year of clinical nursing experience required.
