Position Summary

Baptist Health Walker Hospital

Position Summary: Administers patient care in an area in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, episode of illness, medical condition, or post-intervention assessment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  1. Assesses patient needs and develops/revises an individualized care plan based on patient responses.
  2. Evaluates the patient’s progress toward expected outcomes.
  3. Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
  4. Functions as a patient and family advocate.
  5. Provides age-appropriate care based on the patient's unit/department.
  6. Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, and/or nurse clinician.
  7. Communicates and collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary team for effective planning and management.
  8. Acts as a role model and supports hospital and nursing department goals.
  9. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles, assesses patient data, and interprets information to meet age-specific needs.
  10. Coordinates care and delegates tasks appropriately to team members.
  11. Documents patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medications, treatments, and safety measures.
  12. Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
  13. Prioritizes patient care according to Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
  14. Practices effective problem-solving and resolution.
  15. Delegates tasks based on patient needs and team member capabilities.
  16. Communicates patient condition and unit concerns effectively to team members.
  17. Provides compassionate, therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  18. Maintains awareness of legal issues and patient rights.
  19. Supports new team members and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams.
  20. Maintains punctual attendance in accordance with policies and standards.
  21. Ensures compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions:

  1. Contributes to team knowledge, skill development, and quality improvement.
  2. Participates or leads committees on nursing practice and performance improvement.
  3. Engages in peer review, mentoring, and coaching activities.
  4. Uses supplies efficiently and maintains a clean, safe work environment.
  5. Attends staff development, meetings, and committees.
  6. Partners with leadership to identify professional development needs.
  7. Responsible for personal professional growth and continuing education.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Training:

  • Graduate of an approved nursing school.
  • Meets all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific unit/department.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current State of AL RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC may be required for certain areas.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience required unless approved by AVP level or above.
