Qualifications

Minimum requirements

  • Michigan RN license
  • Associate degree from an accredited nursing school (Bachelor's preferred)

Additional requirements include:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP)
  • Handle with Care- Advanced (within 90 days)
  • ACLS (within 1 year)
  • PALS (within 1 year)
  • TNCC (within 1 year)
  • ENPC (within 1 year)
Essential Functions
  • Perform care interventions, medication administration, specimen collection, and treatments
  • Document patient care accurately
  • Monitor and communicate patient condition to the care team, physicians, and family
  • Assist with activities of daily living
  • Coordinate patient care across disciplines
  • Educate patients and families appropriately
  • Advocate for patient well-being
Department/Unit Summary

The ICU has 24 beds, caring for ICU and IMCU patients with support from care aides. The team supports open heart, neuro surgery, CRRT, and high-risk procedures, serving as a Level 2 trauma center. The unit has a clinical educator and follows the ECCOs program for orientation. Acuity varies between ICU and IMCU needs.
