Job summary

LCMC Health in New Orleans is looking for a dedicated Critical Care Nurse to lead and coordinate care for high-acuity patients. You will assess vital signs, monitor life-support systems, and apply expertise to complex medical situations, while prioritizing safety and patient outcomes.

You will regularly engage with patients, families, and the care team to explain conditions and treatment plans, ensuring compassionate, continuous care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in Louisiana with current license.
• BLS certification required to provide immediate, lifesaving care.
• ACLS and PALS certifications demonstrate ability to manage critical events.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate care touchpoints for critical patients and families.
• Assess vital signs and life-support equipment per standards of care.
• Apply knowledge to complex patient conditions including psycho-social needs.
• Maintain a safe environment and advocate for patient safety.
• Communicate with patients, families, and care team about conditions and care plans.
• Prevent and treat wounds and ensure infection control.
• Collaborate with nursing supervisor to meet patient care needs and complete tasks.
• Educate patients and families using appropriate resources and continuity of care services.

Your Everyday

Take the lead: prioritizing, coordinating, and delegating all care touchpoints for your patients.

Evaluate vital signs according to standards of care andmonitorlife support measures such as advanced heart and respiratory technology.

Apply knowledge of complex patient conditions including psycho/social needs.

Maintain andadvocatea safe environment for everyone.

Monitor and engage with your patients, families, andappropriate careteam membersimmediatelyconcerningsignificant events, patient condition changes, or patient questions and concerns.

Prevent and treat wounds.

Monitor and execute Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.

Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.

Collaborate and consult with nursing supervisor Collaborates toidentifyand meet the overall needs of patient care or when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.

Initiate patient and family education usingappropriate resourcesand continuum of care services.

Contribute to the team byassistingothers without being asked.

The Must-Haves

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Current ACLSand PALS.
