Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Critical Care Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury, surgery, or life‑threatening disease.

• Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort
• Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families
• Guides and directs healthcare personnel (i.e., Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients
• Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices) and utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms
• Initiates emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury)
• Assists with patient care duties/tasks (i.e., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene)

Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 5 months of hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 5 months of hire

The ICU at CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 24‑bed unit. We take care of any critical care patient and specialize in high‑acuity care, leveraging technology and highly skilled nurses to serve our community and surrounding areas. Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268‑bed regional referral center in Kearney, Nebraska. It hosts an advanced level trauma center, air‑care emergency helicopter transport, ambulance services, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient/outpatient mental health services at the Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.

Pay Range

$36.00 – $52.20 per hour
