CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, NE seeks a Director of Nursing ICU, PCU and Telemetry to strategically plan, design, implement, and maintain patient care programs and management systems across assigned departments.

Lead integration of services to ensure patient-centered care, drive quality and cost-effective improvements, and collaborate with physicians, staff, and community stakeholders; oversee nursing care operations campus-wide and guide change aligned with the division's CNO strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing with at least 7 years of nursing experience.
  • Master's in healthcare field or Master's in Nursing must be obtained within 2 years.
  • Registered Nurse license in Nebraska (NE).
  • Basic Life Support - CPR certification (American Heart Association).
  • Experience in a Critical Access Hospital preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of patient care programs and management systems.
  • Ensure patient-centered care and drive quality and cost-effective improvements.
  • Maintain operational and matrix responsibility for nursing care across campus.
  • Review cost, quality, safety, utilization data and develop interventions to improve value.
  • Lead change activities per CommonSpirit change models.
  • Collaborate with the facility President on administrative decision making.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Director of Nursing ICU, PCU and Telemetry, you will contribute by strategically planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining patient care programs, policies, and management systems across assigned departments and campus.

Every day you will lead the integration of services to ensure patient-centered care, drive quality and cost-effective improvements, and serve as a role model for ethical management. You will maintain direct operational and matrix management responsibility for all nursing care areas on your assigned campus, actively building strong relationships with physicians, employees, and community stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate exceptional leadership in patient care administration, collaborating effectively with medical staff and ancillary services. You will embody ethical principles, foster patient experience, and enhance staff engagement, ultimately achieving the objectives of campus operations and contributing to the division's CNO strategy.

  • Maintains management responsibility for assigned nursing units. Ensure compliance with regulatory, licensure, and accreditation requirements ensuring that staff are appropriately licensed/certified and taking corrective action for non-compliance as needed.
  • Develops, maintains, and evaluates patient/resident/client and staff data collection systems and processes to support the practice of nursing and delivery of patient care.
  • Develops, maintains, and evaluates organizational planning systems to facilitate the delivery of nursing care, attainment of outcomes, and execution of strategic plans. Monitors the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and nursing services administration, making necessary adjustments to achieve consistent performance.
  • Reviews cost, quality, safety, utilization, and value data regularly with nursing leaders, clinical leaders, and health system executives; responsible for both the dissemination of this information and the development of interventions needed to improve value.
  • Leads change activities in accordance with CommonSpirit change models.
  • Collaborates with facility President on administrative decision making.
Job Requirements
Required
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing and a minimum of Seven (7) years of experience in the discipline
  • Masters in healthcare field or Masters in Nursing must be obtained within Two (2) years
  • Registered Nurse in the state of NE
  • Basic Life Support - CPR with the American Heart Association
Preferred
  • Experience working in a Critical Access Hospital

At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.

Pay Range

$54.50 - $81.07 /hour
