Job summary

Gunnison Valley Health is seeking a Perioperative Nurse (RN) to support perioperative care across pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases. You will plan, organize and direct patient care within the surgical suite, collaborating with a small, highly qualified team.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited nursing program, Colorado RN license, and BLS with ACLS/PALS within the first year. New grads may be considered with the right aptitude and a commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a PACU or other critical care setting; new grads considered.
  • RN license in Colorado; current BLS; ACLS and PALS within first year; CAPA preferred.
  • Skills include clear communication, information sharing, time management, and clinical judgement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe perioperative nursing care aligned with Nurse Practice Act and policies.
  • Perform pre-, intra-, and post-operative assessments and identify changes in condition.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate an individualized perioperative plan of care.
  • Maintain a sterile environment and follow aseptic technique and infection prevention practices.
  • Support the surgical safety process including patient identification, consent and instrument counts.

Requirements:

To be seriously considered for this role, you’ll need to have:

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in a PACU or other critical care nursing preferred, however we are willing consider new grad nurses.
  • Licenses/Certification: RN License current in the state of Colorado. Current BLS certification, ACLS and PALS (or ENPC) within the first year and maintenance expected* thereafter. CAPA is preferred

  • Ability to report deviations in diagnostic studies such as lab values, radiology and EKG reports.

Responsibilities:

As the Perioperative Nurse (RN) at Gunnison Valley Health, you will plan, organize, direct, execute and evaluate all aspects of patient care during the pre-operative and post-operative phases of surgical experience. You’ll utilize your unique skills and ideas by:

  • Provide safe perioperative nursing care consistent with the Nurse Practice Act, evidence based practice and organizational policies
  • Perform pre-, intra-, and post-operative assessments; identifying patient risk and reporting changes in condition
  • Develop, implement and evaluate an individualized perioperative plan of care to support desired outcomes.
  • Maintain a safe, sterile environment; follow aseptic technique, standard precautions, and infection prevention practices
  • Support the surgical safety process including patient identification, consent verification, time-out, site/side verification, counts and speciman handling per policy.

Compensation: $33.00 - $45.04/hr, depending on experience. (shift, weekend differential and call pay)

Physical Requirements:
Occasionally - Walking, sitting, feeling, crouching/squatting, stooping, kneeling, stairs, lifting/lowering (0-50 lbs), carrying (0-50 lbs), pushing/pulling (0-50 lbs)
Frequently – Standing, change position, reaching, reach across midline, handling, pinching
Continuously – See with corrective eyewear, hear clearly with assistance

Shift - 10, 12 hours with call
Status - PRN
