Job summary

The NYS Office of Children and Family Services is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse to join its interdisciplinary team. You will coordinate and monitor medical care for residents, perform comprehensive nursing assessments, administer medications, and follow physician orders.

This role emphasizes health education, collaboration with guardians and staff, discharge planning, meticulous documentation in Excel/Word, and commitment to a safe, therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
• Ability to administer medications and document care per physician orders.
• Collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to resident care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care including assessments, administering medications, transcribing orders, and collecting specimens.
• Provide health education to residents, guardians and staff.
• Represent nursing on the resident's support team and coordinate with other health care disciplines.
• Provide first aid and emergency nursing care.
• Monitor and document residents' symptoms, conditions, and responses to medications.
• Ensure medications are ordered and available for administration.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reporting in health charts and care plans.
• Act as liaison to community providers for continuity of care and discharge planning.
• Prepare and maintain detailed reports using Excel and Word.
