Nebraska Medicine’s Heart & Vascular Unit is seeking a Staff Nurse/Registered Nurse for the Weekend Shift. The unit is fast-paced, caring for cardiovascular patients including LVADs and transplants.

New grads are welcome up to 6 months before graduation. We offer tuition assistance, loan repayment information, and opportunities for Cardiology Fellowship training within a leading regional health network.

Qualifications

• ADN or Nursing Diploma required; RN licensed in Nebraska or a compact state.
• BLS certification required; PALS dependent on department needs.
• New grads welcomed up to 6 months prior to graduation.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate delivery of clinical resources to assure safe, high quality patient care and ensure continuity of care.
• Perform duties in an environment where patient needs are short term, non-acute and non-life threatening.

It is considered a specialty medical/surgical unit that is fast paced and will provide growth in professional knowledge and expertise in the care delivery of our cardiovascular patients. The staff will care for specialty patients such as stable heart and lung transplants and Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs). The Cardiac Vascular Unit is a sister unit to the Cardiac Care Unit. Perform duties in an environment of care where the needs of a patient are short term, non-acute, and non-life threatening.****Required Qualifications:****• Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required.**• Demonstrated effective communication skills required.**• Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.**• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license required.**• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.**• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) department dependent required.****Preferred Qualifications:****• Based on position, prior experience in patient nursing, specialty/primary care clinic and/or telephonics preferred.**• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree preferred.**• Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred.**• Proficient with use of email applications preferred.**• Experience with EPIC or other electronic medical records preferred.**• Specific to the Medical Call Center department; multi-state license preferred.*Nebraska Medicine is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
