Description

This is a 36 hour/week Night Shift position.

The Clinical Staffing Supervisor acts as an extension of the staffing office manager, overseeing clinical staffing decisions and the operations of the Central Resource during the shift. Responsibilities include staffing allocation oversight, rounding on float and flex staff, and collaborating with leadership and house supervisors on staffing concerns. The role provides expert clinical support to the staffing office and nursing team, and involves problem-solving and resource evaluation in the clinical setting to assign personnel based on patient and unit needs. The Clinical Supervisor understands organizational needs and supports the mission, values, and patient care management.

Summary

The House Supervisor provides operational and administrative oversight to all clinical departments during an assigned shift. Responsibilities include patient care oversight, emergency response, and handling clinical complaints. They serve as an administrative resource and provide clinical support to the nursing team, with the ability to evaluate nursing care and assign personnel based on patient and unit needs. The House Supervisor aligns with organizational mission and values to ensure quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  1. Patient Care: Ensure appropriate care and services are available, participate in delivering Carolina Care through rounding, and provide service recovery and staff education.
  2. Collaboration: Act as a point of contact and resource for managers, directors, and senior leaders, and serve as a clinical resource on hospital policies and procedures.
  3. Patient Concerns: Identify and follow up on safety concerns from patients, families, and staff.
  4. Occupational Health: Manage fit-for-duty and needlestick protocols during evening, night, and weekend shifts.
  5. House Supervision: Assist staffing with clinical staffing needs, address operational and supply chain concerns, supervise nursing staff during off-hours, respond to emergencies, and activate emergency plans when necessary.
Other Information

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school for Magnet status entities.
  • Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) for non-Magnet status entities.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

  • Current RN license in North Carolina.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.

Professional Experience Requirements:

  • Two years of professional nursing in a tertiary care setting plus one year in the specific area if holding a BSN.
  • Six years of professional nursing in a tertiary care setting plus three years in the specific area if holding an ADN.
