RN Hospital Resident - Cardiovascular Surgery Stepdown

Unit Details

The J53 nursing unit is one of five Cardiovascular Stepdown units, providing care for patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery, valve repair or replacement, minimally invasive or off-pump coronary bypass, as well as cardiac-related admissions and Total Artificial Heart (TAH) cases. The unit has 24 beds.

Work Schedule

This position involves a day/night rotation from 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients.
• Implement, monitor, and update patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Follow physician and nursing orders accurately.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge needs.
• Educate patients and families about care and recovery.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Current RN licensure in the state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• At least one year of current acute care RN experience or military RN experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
