Job summary

Pathways Healthcare in Boston, MA seeks an experienced registered nurse for weekend in-home care in Dorchester and surrounding areas. This part-time role focuses on preventive and rehabilitative nursing, medication administration, and plans of care.

You will collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, triage patient needs, and communicate clearly with patients and caregivers. Prior geriatrics experience is desirable; new nurses welcome with training.

Qualifications

• 2+ years nursing experience, preferably in geriatrics.
• Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Proficient with electronic medical records (EMR).
• Excellent bedside manner and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
• Knowledge of health care laws and regulations.
• Maintain current BLS CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Initiates preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures.
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
• Initiates and revises the plan of care as patient needs change.
• Responds to afterhours calls during weekends (8:30 AM–8:00 PM).
• Assesses patients' needs through triage and in-home care when needed.
• Collaborates with physicians, nurse practitioners and interdisciplinary team to contribute a strong Plan of Care for each patient.
• Responds to inquiries and concerns from patients, their caregivers, and their medical team.
• Consults patients and caregivers before, during and after treatment.

Position Details:

• Main Office location: Boston, MA
• Service Area: Boston, Roxbury, Dorchester, Hyde Park, West Roxbury, Brighton areas
• Job Type: Part-time
• Schedule: Saturday and Sunday 8:30 am - 8:00 pm

Responsibilities:

• Initiates appropriate preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures.
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
• Initiates the plan of care and makes necessary revisions as patient status and needs change.
• Responds promptly to incoming calls during afterhours. (Weekends 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM)
• Assesses patient's needs through triaging and providing in-home care when needed.
• Collaborates with physicians, nurse practitioners and interdisciplinary team to contribute a strong Plan of Care for each patient.
• Responds to inquiries and concerns from patients, their caregivers, and their medical team.
• Consults patients and caregivers before, during and after treatment.

Benefits & Compensation:

• Pay Structure: Base Compensation ($600 per weekend) + Paid per visit ($50) and per admission ($100). Visits over 60 minutes are paid at $75. Training and meetings are paid hourly at $35/hr.
• Mileage Reimbursement ($0.36/mile)
• 401(k) Match.
