Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s South Pointe Hospital is seeking an RN to provide high-quality pre/intra/post procedural care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures. You will engage with patients, families and staff, delivering education and hands-on nursing support in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities include nursing assessments, medication administration, care coordination and discharge planning. Candidates must hold an RN license and BLS; ACLS preferred within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross.
• ACLS certification within six months of hire.

• Provide nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services.
• Assess patients, document findings, notify physicians of abnormal findings.
• Perform telephone triage and call rotations.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered by a physician.

South Pointe Hospital provides comprehensive surgical services to meet the needs of patients above the age of 14. Our board certified, highly experienced gastroenterologists and surgeons collaborate on various endoscopy procedures to achieve excellent medical outcomes for patients with a variety of gastrointestinal disorders, including abdominal pain, vomiting and bleeding from the intestinal tract. As an RN, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional Pre/Intra & Post Procedural care for patients undergoing Endoscopic procedures. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Nurses in this area are expected to be adaptable as you will learn both circulating and scrub nursing roles. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 5:30PM, with on-call requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services to hospitalized patients in various healthcare settings.
• Assess patients, complete nursing assessments, document findings in patient records and notify physicians of abnormal findings.
• Perform telephone triage and call rotations.
• Perform nursing procedures and administer treatments and medications.
• Establish care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the health care team.
• Coordinate ongoing care, identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning.
• Evaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered by a physician or LIP.
• Establish patient care priorities and delegate nursing activities according to the patient needs and staff qualifications and capabilities.
• Educate patients and families.
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned to ensure efficient operations and continuity of care.
• Participate in education, research and performance improvement activities.
• Assist in the preparation of department specific education for patients and colleagues.
• Cover other nursing roles in the department.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within six months of hire
• One year of recent experience as an RN OR licensed RN with at least two years of LPN experience within the same Cleveland Clinic procedural department

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Two years of recent experience as an RN
• Critical care nursing experience
• Med/Surg experience

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
• Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
• Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $35.50

Maximum hourly: $55.60
